The simplest and most effective protection against corrosion is to coat the outer surfaces of the steel pipes and is referred to as “passive corrosion protection”. For about 30 years, low-density (PE-LD) and medium-density polyethylene (PE-MD) have been successfully used to an increasing extent for this purpose, because they adequately satisfy the various requirements in a proper way.
