Lucocell® – cellulose additives for SMA – Stone Mastic Asphalt. Due to their 3D structure, cellulose fibers maintain a comparatively high viscosity of bitumen thus preventing its seepage from the asphalt mix causing segregation at high temperatures during storage, transport and/or SMA application. At the same time, they enable the formation of a thicker bitumen coating around each rock particle thus preventing oxidation, moisture penetration and lifting or cracking of the aggregate.

Lucocell® made of cellulose fiber is very safe and easy to handle when below listed recommendations are adhered to. The advantages of microgranules are a faster, more even distribution in the asphalt mixture during dry mixing. Microgranules release Lucocell® fibers easily and safely for improved efficiency and product quality. Lucocell® is ideal for use in automated batching.
